Understanding the Learner
Educators will gain an understanding of the characteristics of the spectrum of Multi-lingual learners. They will be able to use that understanding as a lens to reflect on instructional practices and create pathways to participation for all Multi-lingual learners in the classroom.
The session can focus on a broad understanding of MLLs, focus, in a more targeted way, on the needs of SIFE, or take a more pointed look at SIFE with Developing Literacy
Fostering Student Interaction
Interaction and student talk are at the center of active learning and deep understanding. In this session, participants will learn how to plan for student interaction and discussion so that students are set up to engage in the rich critical thinking that builds life-long learners.
Scaffolding Best Practices in Reading
This session explores active reading strategies for ELs/MLLs across the content areas. These are practices that can be integrated into all classrooms.
